Asymmetrical Vase in Peachy-Pink/Black

$59.00

Asymmetrical vase in peachy-pink and black. Glaze is food-safe / lead-free. Roughly 5.5“ W x 4.5” H.

I begin by wedging a piece of clay and creating a slab. Then, using different techniques, I create the body. After the piece is leather hard, I make refinements prior to bisque firing. After bisque firing, I glaze the pots with lead-free glazes and refire. For information on my hand-built style, see About.

Caring for Handmade Ceramics: Though my pots technically can go into a dishwasher, hand washing is the safest bet for handmade ceramics. The extreme heat, harsh cleaners, and dishes “clinking” against one another are all reasons to avoid placing handmade ceramics in the dishwasher. Since every microwave is different, I cannot guarantee performance of my pottery in different microwaves.

All ceramics are subject to “thermal shock” and need to be heated/cooled slowly. Avoid thermal shock by warming mugs or bowls with a little hot (not boiling) water before filling. And cool boiled liquids slightly before pouring them into your mug or bowl. Never place a cool/cold ceramics dish directly into a hot oven. If you wish to warm a ceramics dish in an oven, place the dish in a cool oven and warm it gradually. Likewise, never place a hot dish into a fridge or otherwise cold environment, or into cool water. Bring down the temperature of ceramic pieces gradually.

Following these care instructions will help you maintain beautiful ceramics for years.
